Espectacular “Horse shoe” sobre el cielo de Cerler

Definición. Horseshoe-vortices are one of the more bizarre cloud forms. They can form if there is a lot of vorticity (a measure of rotation) in the air. Shallow cumulus is ideal for the formation of horseshoe-vortices, although the vortices are rare nevertheless. The vortices form when the small cumulus updraft interacts with the surrounding air and forms a dipole vortex; if the cumulus is small it will dissipate quicker than the spinning vortex so the leftover vortex is seen at the top of the cumulus. The vortex stays visible longer since the vortex interacts (mixes) less well with the ambient air.

Es una nube bastante rara de ver, ayer por la tarde desde las 16h49'28" hasta las 16h50'58 después de un día amenazante con alguna precipitación débil en la estación de esquí de Cerler, Pyrene y yo pudimos observar esta magnífica nube "herradura", no es la primera vez que la vemos, pero si la más espectacular. Aquí tenéis toda la secuencia de esta efímera nube.

Todo empezó así:

Nube "herradura" y además iridisada

Con el máximo de color iridisado.

a.C. vemos como se va transformando...

Y acaba con un "funnel cloud".
